today marks the day I am a first-time published author. what a surreal thing to say. I think I’ve really been downplaying what that means to me. what that means in general. I don’t know if it’s even hit me yet. I have had many passions throughout my life, but I don’t think I’ve ever worked so hard on something as I did on creating and completing this collection. It is raw, it is real, it is very vulnerable, and very me. It is a story and a journey and everything I had hoped it would be. exactly one year ago, I decided to start sharing my work online, trying to find a way to express the never-ending questions and reflections in my mind. by no means did I think it would end up the way it has. with all of you. my experience on tiktok has been a bit of a tougher one.. but I am just as incredibly grateful for each and every one of you here. always. I’ve spent much of my life muting or minimizing the way i naturally interpret things. fearing that if I shared too much, I’d be misunderstood. but for the first time in my life, in being able to express myself honestly, creating a space where people feel safe, where we evidently share so many of those truths — i feel seen. and i hope, in some way, that my words carry that effect for you too. at least, i’ve been told that is the case. so finally, today, my debut book ‘To Be Seen’ is yours. #poetrycommunity #authorsoftiktok #booktok #poetsoftiktok #fyp
