When we talk about the Binding of Isaac (the Akedah), we often focus on Abraham's test of faith. But the truth is, the test was just as much for Isaac! We picture him as a child, but according to the Torah's timeline, Isaac was actually 37 years old—a grown man who knew exactly what was happening and was fully willing to give his own life out of commitment. It’s a difficult story to grasp, but their shared willingness to commit to the ultimate purpose is why this is considered the greatest test of faith, and why Avram (Abraham) was chosen.
