Let’s make the most delicious Arroz Con Gandules! 🔥 I got this recipe from @Zaddy’s Food🇵🇷 and its now one of my favorites ways to eat rice 😋 Ingredients: •1 1/2 tbsp olive oil •1 packet ham steak diced (8 oz) •2 tbsp sofrito •1/2 can tomato sauce •1 can gandules (green pigeon peas) •1/2 tbsp chicken bullion •1 1/2 tbsp adobo •1 tsp garlic powder •1 tsp onion powder •1/2 tsp black pepper •1/2 tsp dried oregano •Pinch of salt •1 tbsp olives with minced red bell pepper (sliced or whole) •2 cups water •1 packet Sazon •2 cups jasmine rice (washed) To a pot add the olive oil and sautee the diced ham until golden. Add 2 spoon fulls of sofrito, 1/2 can tomato sauce, and the can of gandules (green pigeon peas) with its juice (don’t drain the water). Mix then add the seasonings: 1/2 tbsp chicken buillon, 1 1/2 tbsp adobo, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1/2 tsp oregano, a pinch of salt and 1 tbsp of the olives. Sautee for a few minutes then add 2 cups water, 1 packet of Sazon. Mix and add 2 cups of Jasmine rice (washed). Mix and cook on medium low until the rice peeks through. Then mix the rice and and make a mountain (push all of the rice towards the middle). Cover with banana leaves or aluminum foil if you don’t have banana leaves. Drop the heat to the lowest possible and let cook for 10-15 minutes. Afterwards turn off the heat, fluff the rice and cover again. Let it sit until its time to serve or minimum 20 minutes.
